New build
The Westhead House is an enchanting home set amongst the native bush on a vantage point overlooking Maori Bay. The house has become an Oasis to which the owners return to escape from the pressures of everyday living, commuting, and working in Auckland’s busy suburbs.
Smart Design
The house is placed back from the cliff edge and captures the dramatic ever-changing one hundred and eighty-degree views of the Tasman Sea. The site is very exposed and its stained cedar cladding blends in with surrounding windblown Manuka trees and weathered cliffs. The stack bonded masonry block base has been polished and sealed giving a natural finish. The roof continues seamlessly over the warm Australian black butt decking. The two side walls have been glazed floor to ceiling with 17mm glass panels to withstand the fierce southerly storms. Bedrooms are set away from the seaward face on opposite sides of the house.
The colour steel roof is power coated Dove Grey. The colour scheme has been chosen to represent the colours of Muriwai, representing the sand, surf, and sky.

Peter And Shaun were recommended to us by a friend who would agree that they are certainly outstanding professionals whose excellent work merits recognition, technically competent with an eye for detail and line they understand proportion and they will not compromise on quality. The site that our home was to be built on was coastal and in a high wind zone testing these builders to their limits, sometimes raining uphill and in very rough conditions, at all times they were pleasant and courteous, as well as the subcontractors they brought with them, everyone working as a team. Peter and Shaun exceeded the level of customer service/satisfaction we were expecting and we have been thoroughly impressed with the quality of workmanship, professionalism and integrity, work ethics being truly exceptional. It has been an absolute pleasure, our home is more beautiful than we ever dreamed and we would recommend these very special tradesmen to anyone wanting skilled, honest, reliable and certainly true to their word builders.We would be honoured if approached in person to repeat all of the above.
