REGENT STREET

When we first laid eyes on this unique building which was a set of of a series of mismatched boxes, we knew it would be a challenge. We poured all of our skill and creativity into every inch of the project, crafting a home that seamlessly blends form and function.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Newbuild

Background

Shaun originally built our clients home on a back section of a ROW in Bayswater/Devonport. The section was large enough to be subdivided and as the owners were very pleased with Shaun’s effort on their first home, we become the preferred builders to undertake the construction of their second home on the section. The build consisted of three levels on a sloping site. Retaining walls were incorporated to contain two levels of the cut. The mid-floor level was formed off the drive with the double garage to the right of the entry. The level platform provided a turning circle and guest parking area. The entry area provides the split between the living areas situated on the lower area are the living areas; lounge, family room, kitchen, laundry, powder room, and alfresco dining area, with the bedrooms, ensuite, and main bathroom, on the upper level. The home was a challenge to set out as it was a series of different sized boxes comprising of varying rectangular shapes on three levels forming a most interesting build.

Our Solution

Accuracy in both set-out and levels was crucial to the success of the project. The client lived in the house adjoining and would maintain close contact throughout the build, his input and contribution during the build was immeasurable. We were also fortunate to have understanding and patient neighbours as the site and access were very tight. The external cladding chosen was rusticated cedar weatherboards. The roof, colour steel corrugated iron. Due to the structures shape the roof consisted of several small roofs resulting in the use of numerous flashings. Attention to detail is bye word when undertaking this type of work to ensure there are no envelope failures, resulting in water ingress at some future date. Internally the home is well appointed with many eye-watering features including illuminated recesses, solid Jarrah hardwood flooring, a well-appointed kitchen, and state of the art bathroom and ensuite. Rob and Judith’s “eye for detail” complimented Parris and Williams “attention to detail” which has resulted in an enviable, warm, watertight home, that will give worry-free pleasure for many years to come. Something Shaun and I are both proud to be part of.
